The Darren Hayes/ Chris Gaines Conspiracy Theory...

After three years, it has become readily evident that there is something more to these two men than them both simply being world-wide success stories. If you will, consider the following as connections between the two, things that you wouldnt normally see unless you knew the both of them as well as I do.

All in the Names:

Chris Gaines = Darren Hayes, same amount of letters.
Both have middle names deriving from their family, Gene from Chris father and Stanley from Darrens grandfather.
In the alphabet, the distance between C and G is five letters, as is the distance between D and H.

Tommy Levitz = Daniel Jones, same amount of letters.

Chris Gaines = Darren Hayes = Tommy Levitz = Daniel Jones, all have the same amount of letters, 11. How many bands can be connected like this?

Marc Obed = Lee Novak, same amount of letters.
Both are seen as the odd ones out, though they can be seen as original members of the bands.

Savage Garden went through many name changes, reverting from Bliss to Crush, Chris first band.

The Bands:

Chris and Darren are both singers that joined established bands.

Tommy and Daniel are both guitarists, best friends and natural duos to their vocal counterparts.

Tommy was one year older than Chris, Darren one year older than Daniel.

Chris and Daniel both dropped out of High School to work on their musical careers, but both went back to finish their GED.

Both bands split because of their Guitarists: Tommy dies in 1986, Daniel deciding to take a step out of the public light and life.

The Albums and Music:

Debut albums are both self-titled.

First singles didnt go anywhere for either, but the second launches both bands into superstardom.

Crushs largest hit, "My Love Tells Me So," has the same amount of words as Savage Gardens "I Knew I Loved You," their biggest hit to date.

Gaines "Greatest Hits" holds as many solo hits as Savage Garden released worldwide in their entire career, 12.
To The Moon And Back
I Want You
Truly Madly Deeply
Universe
Break Me, Shake Me
Affirmation
Hold Me
I Knew I Loved You
The Best Thing
Crash And Burn
The Animal Song
Chained To You

Savage Garden splits after two albums, Affirmation released in late 1999, the same time Chris releases Greatest Hits.

Both Chris and Darren went on to solo careers roughly two years after their bands had broken.

The cover and spines of "Greatest Hits" and "Spin" are written in white and red, both featuring long haired, goateed singers.

Triangle and Spin are both heavy in the R&B influence.

Greatest Hits and Spin contain the same amount of songs, each of which can be related to a song on the other album, as featured:

Greatest Hits 1999 Spin 2002

1. Thats the Way I Remember It    9. I Cant Ever Get Enough of You
2. Lost In You                               2. Insatiable
3. Snow In July                               3. Heart Attack
4. Driftin Away                              4. I Miss You
5. Way of the Girl                           5. Creepin Up On You
6. Unsigned Letter                          13. The Heart Wants What It Wants
7. It Dont Matter To The Sun        11. What You Like
8. Right Now                                  12. Spin
9. Main Street                                8. Good Enough
10. White Flag                               6. Dirty
11. Diggin For Gold                       1. Strange Relationship
12. Maybe                                      10. Like It Or Not
13. My Love Tells Me So                7. Crush (1980 ME)

Note that Darren wrote a song named Crush (1980ME).

Right Now vs. Spin: Verses based on events, politics, TV, news, and media. Chorus viewed on happiness, looking forward. Both place blame on politics, censorship, guns, and violence. Same feeling displayed: "Maybe its the future, maybe its the end" "When the DJ spins, will it change your mind?"

Other Chris and Darren connections:

Both were born in Brisbane, Australia.

Both moved to California at some point; Chris in 1972, the year Darren was born, and Darren in 1999.

Both went through dramatic visual changes, to hide and start over.

Both have an affliction for black leather.

Both wear silver rings on their right index fingers.

Chris: "I like to communicate, whatever means that may be."
Darren: "Communicate, anyway, anyhow."

They both have about the same vocal quality, and write in the same style.

Other Random Connections:

Chris is Garth Brooks alter ego, Dazzler is Darrens.

Tommy died in a plane crash; Darren changed his flight plans, taking an earlier flight home to San Francisco. The original plane he was scheduled to be on was one of the doomed
9-11-01 flights.

Chris almost died in a car wreck; Savage Garden writes Crash and Burn, a song about holding on when things are looking their worst. "If you need to crash, then crash and burn, youre not alone."

The Number Theory: The last shred

If the numbers of Chris and Darrens birthdays are added, the following occurs:

Chris: Born August 9th, 1967, 9+10+1+9+6+7=38
Darren: Born May 8th, 1972, 5+8+1+9+7+2=32
38-32=6, the number of years apart they are.

Simplify further, 3+8=11 and 3+2=5, 11-5=6

Take it another step, 1+1=2, 5-2=3, the number of collective albums Crush and Savage Garden released.

5+2=7, the amount of solo albums to be completed by the end of 2002, six from Chris, and one from Darren.

Chris:
The Lamb
Greatest Hits
Triangle
Apostle
Fornucopia
Straight Jacket

Darren:
Spin

**For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry because I'm sure you aren't alone. Chris Gaines was an alter-ego that Garth Brooks came up with when he decided to do a 'pop' album. This idea was also to transpire into a film, 'The Lamb,' which we are still waiting for. Though the album itself was done quite well, the sales didn't show it, and it is considered mainly to be a failure throughout the industry. Don't let it fool you, it did go double-platinum, but that just couldn't compare with the rest of Garth's diamond sellers. If you can find the CD, don't be afraid to check it out, it's still one of my top ten albums...**
