He stood alone, school ring in his hand. The sand scratched between his toes, the water lapping gently, gaining on his fixed form. Reds and purples illuminated the sky above in brilliant hues. Light caught the shine of the ring, making it glint. He remembered once when it used to mean more, once when it had belonged to someone else. What it had meant when dead love was alive, and having someone was worth more then being alone.
"One of these days..."
He took one last look, throwing the ring out into the ocean, watching it sink in the surf.
